Get to know the South Korean actor Kwak Dong Yeon
From being a skilled swordsman in ‘Love in the Moonlight’, to a kind teacher assistant in ‘Gangnam Beauty’. We have seen his potential as an actor and he keeps on getting our attention in ‘Vincenzo’.

Kwak Dong Yeon was born on March 19, 1997 in Daejeon, South Korea. He is a Pisces.
Independent person
To fulfill his dream of becoming an artist, he went to Seoul by himself when he was just thirteen years old. He learned music and also took acting lessons under FNC Entertainment.
He knows how to play the guitar, and is a member of ‘Kokoma Band’.
Fun fact: When Kwak Dong Yeon was younger, his family used to lend videotapes for a living. He said that watching a lot of movies in his childhood inspired him to become an actor. (Source: Entertainment Weekly, 2016)
Debut drama
At age fifteen, he made his acting debut in the 2012 television series ‘My Husband Got A Family’ wherein he gained the ‘Best Young Actor Award’.
Fun fact: During his audition for ‘My Husband Got A Family’, he only got the lines “I won’t eat it” and “Yes”. As he felt burdened on how to express those lines, he wrote down his character analysis. A dedicated actor indeed!

In 2013, Kwak Dong Yeon starred in the coming-of-age miniseries ‘Adolescence Medley’. This was followed by the period drama ‘Inspiring Generation’ and the romantic comedy series ‘Modern Farmer’ in 2014.
Love in the Moonlight
In 2016, we fell in love with him as Kim Byung Yeon, a charismatic and skilled swordsman in the historical drama ‘Love in the Moonlight’.
Fun fact: Kwak Dong Yeon said in one interview that while preparing for his role in ‘Love in the Moonlight’, he watched the Japanese movie ‘Rurouni Kenshin’ many times. He said that the lead character in the said movie was similar to Kim Byung Yeon when it comes to being a warrior with excellent swordsmanship.
