5 Reasons Why You Should Watch ‘Doom at Your Service’
TvN’s new drama ‘Doom at Your Service‘ (어느 날 우리 집 현관으로 멸망이 들어왔다) successfully premiered last night, May 10, with a nationwide viewership ratings of 4.118% based on AGB Nielsen.
The drama that garnerned a good deal of positive anticipation stars Seo In Guk, Park Bo Young, Lee Soo Hyuk, Kang Tae Oh and Shin Do Hyun.
After the much awaited pilot episode last night, here are 5 reasons why you should add this drama to your weekly ongoing watchlist:
1. Seo In Guk
Seo In Guk is finally coming back as a lead actor in the small screen, 3 years since his last TVN drama ‘The Smile that Has Left Your Eyes’ in 2018.
With this drama, In Guk has added yet another character type in his already diverse portfolio as this is the first time that he is acting as a supernatural character. This doesn’t count his cameo in ‘Abyss’ as a Grim Reaper.
The first episode already gave a glimpse of Myulmang (Korean word for Doom) as a complex character that is neither human or god. He was presented as a charismatic being who doesn’t care about humans but instead wanted for the world to just end. But within his seemingly carefree character is the weight of the sadness in working between life and death.
2. Park Bo Young
This drama also serves as Park Bo Young’s comeback since her 2019 TvN drama ‘Abyss’.
The pilot episode introduced her character, Tak Dong Kyung as a regular web novel editor living an ordinary life. That was until she discovers that she is terminally ill and has 3 more months to live.
Bitter with her fate, she wishes for “the world to end”. Her wish was clearly heard by Myul mang who instantly went to her house and offers her a contract to grant her wish.
3. Seo In Guk + Park Bo Young. We know what this means right? A masterpiece in the making.
Seo In Guk and Park Bo Young already have a bit of experience working with each other when Seo In Guk appeared as a cameo in Park Bo Young’s dramas ‘Oh My Ghost’ and ‘Abyss’. But this is the first time that they will be acting as the lead roles.
The two have already established themselves as great actors who are especially talented in romantic comedy scenes as well as heart-wrenching cying scenes.
With the two acting together, we can be rest assured that the finished product will still go beyond our expectations.
4. It’s another Fantasy Rom-Com drama with an interesting plot by TvN.
Supernatural, fantasy, romantic comedy drama? We can all agree that TvN have already mastered the formula to deliver high quality dramas from this genre. Goblin, Hotel del Luna, Tale of the Nine Tailed, and Abyss to name a few; many successful TvN dramas have this genre.
With the level of artistry that TvN gives to these fantasy dramas, we were always left in awe with their effects, costumes and plot twists.
5. The Supporting Characters.
Another thing that should be mentioned are the high-caliber actors and actresses that will be serving as the dramas supporting casts. These includes; Lee Soo Hyuk, Kang Tae Oh and Shin Do Hyun.
They will surely play a vital role in the development of Dong Kyung and Myulmang’s love story.
Even with just the first episode, we can already foresee that this drama is must watch for everyone. It airs at TvN every Monday and Tuesday at 9PM KST. You shouldn’t miss this chance and add it to your to watch list!
