Vincenzo: A Mafia-Mazing Story
Vincenzo is not your ordinary gangster story, and if there’s one word to describe it, it would be “Masterpiece” — A perfect blend of drama, action, suspense, and a dash of perfectly timed comedy. It’s just satisfyingly beautiful.
I have been patiently waiting for each new episode to be aired. It was something I am always looking forward to every week. A piece of heaven in my tiring reality. If you still haven’t watched it, let me give you few reasons why you should start watching it. If you are an avid fan like me, you can check out and see if you agree with me.
Here are the five reasons:
1. Song Joong Ki is back!
Our one and only Corn Salad! Our famous Big Boss is finally back. If you have loved him in Descendants of the Sun, I assure you that you will love him more in this drama.
It was like this role was made just for him. He plays the role of Vincenzo Cassano, a consigliere of a Mafia family in Italy. He went back to South Korea with only one reason — to retrieve all the gold stuck in the basement of a run-down building he now owns. His simple reason changed when the person kind to him died in front of his face.
2. Ok Taecyeon‘s acting skills
I have seen some of his dramas but this by far is the best! He was initially a sweet Innocent looking assistant, but as time progresses his true colors showed. I have never expected to hate him this much! But it was a good hate. He was so good at performing his character that he could make my blood boil whenever I see him play the role of the ruthless, sadistic psychopath Chairman of Babel Group, Jang Han Seok. His excellent acting skill is just amazing that you wouldn’t stop loving him even if you hate his character.
3. The Story
I have always loved mafia stories. From the Godfather up to the Infernal Affairs. To be honest, I was expecting it to be like those movies I have watched, but I never expected to get more from it.
It is a clever and intriguing drama that will keep its viewers invested in the story from beginning to end. The story will show you a glimpse of reality, particularly from corrupt officials to greedy businessmen.
Moreover, it also showed how one person’s voice should not be silenced by these kinds of people. And if we want something to change, then we should do something about it.
I also enjoyed the flow of the story, how each of the character’s backstories was told, and how each episode just keeps getting better and better. So if you are looking for something refreshing and at the same time inspiring to watch, then this one is for you.
4. The Chemistry
This is not a love story, but this is the story that you’ll surely love. The flow of the story depends on how each character blends to help us see and understand the story more.
Here are some of those perfect chemistry.
A. Team Corn Salad
Their love story was not really highlighted but we can feel it. Unspoken words because their actions speak louder. I enjoyed their playfulness and how they support each other. What’s even amazing is that they don’t need to say any cheesy line for us, but we can feel it when we see them. I love their tandem!
B. Team Babel
These two would bring out the angry person within you. Just seeing these two make their evil plans will immediately make your blood boils. Their amazing acting skills make it look effortless, and make us hate them even more.
Bravo on their acting, you wouldn’t be able to deny how great they are.
5. The Cast
Everyone in this drama did their job well. May it be a small role or a big one, their role is so important to make this drama complete. Just like how each piece of a jigsaw puzzle is important to be able to create a perfect picture.
Here are some of the characters worth mentioning:
Jang Han Seo (Kwak Dong Yeon) – I enjoyed how his character grew. From being a clueless puppet to being a good businessman. This is definitely another great acting from Kwak Dong Yeon.
You will hate him at the beginning, you will enjoy his comedy antics, and in the end, you will just love him.
Hong Cha Young (Jeon Yeo Bin) – I just love her, period. There is no dull moment with her. She has the power to make you smile with her witty remarks and clever antics.
The people of Geumga Plaza – At first I thought that they are just ordinary characters, but as I dive deeper into the drama, I found that they all have a story to tell. I enjoyed all their back story and all their hidden talents.
Choi Myung Hee (Kim Yeo Jin) – The Zumba queen. I hate her so much! She may seem harmless but she is the devil in disguise. She is just pure evil. I have seen her in several dramas but this role of her, I’m sure to remember.
There is a lot more about the drama that I wanted to say but I don’t want to spoil it for you. If you still haven’t watched this drama, it’s not too late to watch it. Trust me, when you start watching it, it will be impossible to stop.
For those who have been faithfully waiting for new episodes every week, can you describe your feelings about the show? We would love to hear them.
