AO Exclusive: Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha casts share their thoughts about the series!

Our dimple couple from Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is coming!

One of Netflix’s most anticipated Korean romantic-comedy series is about to premiere this August 28! Starred by Shin Min Ah, Kim Seon Ho, and Lee Sang Yi, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is definitely a series you shouldn’t miss.

Annyeong Oppa team was lucky enough to join the casts for their virtual press conference that happened this August 24.

Introducing Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

The series talks about the story of a Seoul City Girl, Hye-jin (portrayed by Shin Min Ah), a dentist, who arrives at a seaside village, Gongjin. Upon moving to Gongjin, she meets Du-sik (portrayed by Kim Seon Ho), a handyman, where a new story unfolds between the two. They are also joined by Seong-hyun (portrayed by Lee Sang Yi), a star producer.

Choosing the script

All the lead stars in the series were asked what made them accept their respective roles. And for the record, both Shin Min Ah, Kim Seon Ho, and Lee Sang Yi said yes due to the story’s fun and heartwarming script!


Kim Seon Ho shared that he felt that the series will be fun and heartwarming. He wondered what charm could he bring out of his character, which made him want to be part of the series.

Shin Min Ah, on the other hand, mentioned her intent to return to rom-com dramas after her previous works in Diva and Chief of Staff. The actress also said that she came across the script and got drawn to the character of Hye-jin.

Meanwhile, Lee Sang Yi was drawn to the story’s intriguing yet fun plot. He also mentioned that acting alongside Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min Ah is an amazing experience for him!

Shin Min Ah and Kim Seon Ho’s chemistry revealed

Both Shin Min Ah and Kim Seon Ho shared to the press that they all had good chemistry on the set! The pairing has two nicknames – Sikhye couple for their Korean fans and Dimple couple for their international fans.

Sikhye is actually formed as a combination of their characters’ names – du-SIK and HYE-jin. Meanwhile, the dimple couple is created by the fans who noticed the pairing’s lovely dimples!

They both feel comfortable with each other due to their nice personalities. Due to their comfortability, the two leads were able to shoot scenes with no worries.

Pretty sure viewers can witness their amazing chemistry soon!

The stars and their preparations

Kim Seon Ho plays the role of Hong Du-sik, a jack of all trades but unemployed. Seon Ho mentioned that he had to prepare many things such as surfing and being a barista. He spent some time familiarizing himself with Du-sik’s role to find a certain balance in his character.

Shin Min Ah takes the role of Yoon Hye-jin, a dentist from Seoul who moved to Gongjin village. Min Ah mentioned that she visited her dentist to have an idea of her role. She studied her dentist’s facial expression and spent some time immersing herself to understand a dentist.

Lee Sang Yi portrays the role of Ji Seong-hyun, a popular PD. Luckily for Sang Yi, he was once part of Hangout with Yoo during its MSG Wannabe segment. He shared that he observed PD Na Young Seok and Kim Tae Ho (Hangout with Yoo’s PD), so he can apply some of their behavior to his character.

Sang Yi was also teased to lend his voice to sing a soundtrack from this series, and he was all smiles and mentioned that he would work on it with the director.

All three stars also mentioned that they had a fun time working with each other. They were amazed by each other’s acting capability, and they also got closer to each other during the production.

What to anticipate in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

The series is directed by Yu Je Won, who previously worked on Abyss and Hi! Bye Mama which, was all well-received by the viewers. His upcoming work, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is something viewers can find comfort and relate to. The director also added that there are small scenes that most people can relate to in real life. He hopes that the drama’s message will be well-received by the audience.

The lead stars stated that the upcoming series may not feature huge events, but they hope that the scenes they will show on the series will be relatable to the viewers. There will be a lot of emotions portrayed in the series that can bring joy and tears to the audience.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha will premiere on Netflix this August 28 and will run every Saturday and Sunday. Let’s all cheer for the casts, mga bes!
