The behind-the-scenes video of the said special episode shows Director Kim Seong Hun and Writer Kim Eun Hee sharing some BTS trivia and character symbolism.

Kingdom: Ashin of the North talks about a woman named Ashin who appeared at the end of Kingdom Season 2. The special episode highlights her story and the beginning of the resurrection plant.

Ashin’s character was played by the versatile actress Jun Ji Hyun, also known as Gianna Jun, who portrays various characters. With that, Writer Kim Eun expressed that there’s no one who can portray Ashin better than her.

She totally nailed the character for being the warrior Ashin, who experienced great suffering and pain. In which she makes it through a day of her revenge ever since her family died.

Park Byung Eun, on the other hand, plays the character of Min Chi Rok. He is dedicated to serving the country even if it means sacrificing a tribe.

One of the purest character is Ashin’s father named Tahab who is the head of the borderland village. Writer Kim Eun symbolizes his character as grassroots and you will understand why in the said episode.

An era of barbarism is the representation of Aidagan’s character. He has a sharp look and inserts brutality in their tribe’s ways.

Kingdom: Ashin of the North ended with a cliffhanger scene between Ashin and Aidagan, which will be continued in the upcoming Kingdom Season 3.

A lot of questions were filled in the viewers’ attention and hopefully will be answered in the continuing series. One of the questions is if Ashin will be Lee Chang’s companion or enemy.

Moreover, Writer Kim Eun also shared that the idea of Pyesa-Gun with resurrection plant setting was created when she came across the record of the said place.

“I learned that this vast area has been prohibited from entry for nearly 100 years. So it got me thinking, what if the resurrection plant grows there?” the writer said.

Everything in Kingdom‘s special episode is so well-produced and written. Let us wait for the upcoming season and side stories of Kingdom!
