Let’s get to know more the Prince of Asia: Lee Kwangsoo

Early this year, all runners are saddened with the news of Lee Kwangsoo leaving Running Man. But recently, Kwangsoo’s garnering more attention when he joined the spin-off program of House on Wheels.

Lee Kwangsoo is a South Korean actor, entertainer, and model. He was born on July 14, 1985 (36 years old) in Namyangju, Gyeonggi, South Korea.

Model turned Actor

He began his entertainment career as a model in 2007 and made his acting debut in the 2008 television drama ‘The Scale of Providence’ which was followed by the sitcom ‘Here He Comes’. He also made an appearance in the drama ‘High Kick Through The Roof’, ‘Dong Yi’, ‘City Hunter’, and ‘Bachelor’s Vegetable Store’.

‘Comedian’ Life

After joining SBS’ Good Sunday popular variety show ‘Running Man‘, Kwangsoo’s popularity increased as he gained the nickname ‘Prince of Asia’ due to his large number of overseas fans. And he won back-to-back awards at the SBS Entertainment Awards for the ‘New Star Award’ and ‘Best Newcomer in Variety’ last 2010 and 2011 respectively.

After another supporting role in A Wonderful Moment, Kwangsoo voiced the lead character Marco in the animated movie Maritime Police Marco, opposite fellow Running Man regular Song Jihyo, who voiced for Lulu, last 2013.

Later on, Kwangsoo held his first solo fan meeting of his career in Singapore last August 2013, attended by 2,000 fans and it was considered a success. And in the following year, he held another one in Malaysia that was attended by almost 3,000 fans.

Big Screen Debut

He also played his first major role on the big screen in ‘Confession’. He then returned to television with the medical melodrama ‘It’s Okay, That’s Love’ and in the film, ‘A Dynamite Family’.

He then played the protagonist in ‘Collective Invention’, whose condition is caused by side effects from a newly introduced drug in a 2015 South Korean black comedy film. He also starred in the two-episode drama ‘Puck!’ and in the remake of the American series’ ‘Entourage’ that aired in tvN and was then cast in the KBS sitcom ‘The Sound of Your Heart’.

Due to his popularity in variety shows, he also joined the Netflix’s variety show, ‘Busted!‘ Season one and season three that aired in early 2021.

Through the years, he starred in the television series ‘Live’, crime comedy film ‘The Accidental Detective 2: In Action’, gambling film, ‘Tazza: One-Eyed Jack’, period adventure film ‘The Pirates: Goblin Flag’, and in the disaster comedy film ‘Sinkhole’.

Goodbye, Kwangsoo

And last April 27, 2021, Lee Kwangsoo’s agency announced that he will step down from Running Man to focus on treatment and recovery from the accident that happened last February 2020.

And on the first episode of the ‘House on Wheels’ spin-off, Kwangsoo didn’t fail to show his instinct as a former Running Man member.

The spin-off ‘Lending You My House On Wheels’ will air every Monday at 9 p.m. KST.
