Won's retreat continues with currency hitting 1,399 to the dollar

The won fell to a new decade-plus low on Friday, nearing 1,400 to the dollar.  
 
It was trading at 1,399 to the dollar in the morning, losing 0.38 percent of its value from the previous trading day.  
 
Korea's currency hasn't been at these levels since March 2009 in the aftermath of the global financial crisis.  
 
The Kospi fell below 2,400 points to as low as 2,382.20 intraday, down 0.82 percent. The Kosdaq Composite Index was down 0.8 percent intraday.
