Mnet's new global audition show 'Boys Planet' to air in February
Mnet's new global audition show "Boys Planet" will air in February next year.
According to the cable channel on Monday, a teaser clip of the show will be unveiled at the upcoming 2022 MAMA Awards, which is set to take place in Osaka on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A total of 98 applicants made it to the final lineup of contestants to participate in the show after going through three rounds of auditions.
According to Mnet, thousands of applications from a total of 84 countries and regions were submitted with 229 management companies in and out of the country participating.
“Boys Planet” is the second season of the highly successful audition show “Girls Planet 999” (2021) from which girl group Kep1er was formed. The show featured 99 contestants — 33 each from Korea, Japan and China — and allowed local and foreign viewers to vote for their favorite hopefuls, meaning the project group accumulated a global fandom even before its official debut.
“Boys Planet,” as the name implies, is Mnet’s attempt to form a boy band. The finalists from the show will debut after the show ends.
