Samsung SDI net profit up 18.7 percent in Q2 to 485.8 billion won

Samsung SDI reported an 18.7 percent on-year increase in net profit to 485.8 billion won ($382.8 million) for the second quarter of 2023, missing the analyst consensus of 534.0 billion won.
 
The battery maker’s operating profit rose 4.9 percent to 450.2 billion won, a record for its second-quarter figure, yet also fell slightly short of the market expectation of 459.6 billion won.
 
Its quarterly revenue beat the expectation with 5.84 trillion won, up 23.2 percent on year.
 
Samsung SDI share was trading at 687,000 won in the Kospi bourse, down 2.28 percent from the previous closing price, at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
