South comes behind North to take bronze in floor exercise

South Korean gymnast Lim Su-min took bronze in the women’s floor exercise, scoring 12.800 points in the final round on Friday.
 
Lim, 16, came behind China’s Zhang Jin, 22, and North Korea’s Kim Son-hyang, 19, who scored 13.100 and 12.966 points to take gold and silver, respectively.

Lim’s bronze-medal finish closed out South Korea’s gymnastics schedule at this year’s Asian Games.
 
South Korea ended with two medals, one gold and one bronze, on Friday, the final day of the men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics Asiad tournament.
 
The rhythmic gymnastics competition begins next week, on Friday.
 
The gold medal came from South Korea’s Kim Han-sol, also in floor exercise, during the men’s individual event on Thursday.
 
Kim, 27, scored 14.900 points in the final round, well ahead of China’s Zhang Boheng and Lin Chaopan, who each earned 14.333. Kim had entered the Hangzhou Games as the defending champion from the 2018 Asiad in Jakarta, Indonesia.
 
South Korea failed to medal in either the men’s or the women’s team events, with the men’s team ranking fourth and the women’s team ranking fifth.
 
The South Korean men’s gymnastics team placed third at the last Asiad while the last time the women’s team earned a podium spot was in 2006, in Doha, Qatar.
