A 4.0-magnitude earthquake detected in Gyeongju

 An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 occured 19 kilometers (11.8 miles) southeast of Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang at 4:55 a.m. Thursday,  according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
 
The earthquake is currently the second strongest that had happened this year. An earthquake that occured offshore of Donghae, Gangwon, in May holds this year's record with a magnitude of 4.5. 
 
 
It is also close to the location where the strongest earthquake that had occurred in recent years of a 5.8 magnitude on Sept. 12 2016.  
 
Initially the weather agency reported the earthquake to have a magnitude of 4.3. However, it made the adjustment not long after.
