AO Exclusive: Hyun Bin Talks About His Dream Role, Shares Bench’s Charm!
And yes, I got to ask Hyun Bin a question!
Few days before his actual Bench fun-meeting, Hyun Bin delightedly talked with the press in a virtual press conference via Zoom. The experience is something new, since we consistently adapt to this new normal. One thing I can assure you I have felt throughout the conference, containing feels and kilig!
Hyun Bin is the current global ambassador of the fashion brand, Bench (styled BENCH/). He is also one of the most acclaimed South Korean actors due to his top acting skills. Debuting in the acting industry 18 years ago, Hyun Bin had his fair share of various acting roles making him one of the pioneer influencers of the Hallyu Wave across Pan-Asia.
Hyun Bin’s shot to stardom
One of Hyun Bin’s most famous roles would be portraying the role of the restaurant owner, Hyun Ji Heon on My Lovely Sam Soon. This role was succeeded by several movies and acting projects, until 2010, where he brought Kim Joo Won to life in Secret Garden.
His acting roles earned him numerous Top Excellence, Best Actor, and Baeksang awards proving his diverse acting skills with unique execution in every project he had.
Crash landing into our hearts
During our Zoom conference with Hyun Bin, the press mentioned how his role in the series Crash Landing On You (CLOY) became undeniably huge in the Philippines. The hit drama has completely invaded our screens following the story of a North Korean soldier and a South Korean socialite.
With Captain Ri’s undeniable charms—pure, serious, and selfless—and having Hyun Bin play the role, it’s a given he’ll crash into our hearts! CLOY’s impact is so big that even some Filipino celebs fell in love with the series. There are even some fans who can’t move on from the series!
However, as for Captain Ri, everything has come to an end after the final episodes as he went straight to work on his movies. The actor shared that when people talk about CLOY, he can’t deny that some memories come back.
Identifying his dream role
Luckily, our team was able to ask Hyun Bin a question! The virtual conference turned into a bit of a fan-meeting moment. I got to introduce myself in Korean, and he returned my introduction with a lovely hello!
I asked Hyun Bin this question,
“You’ve played a lot of different roles in the active industry. Is there still a “dream role” for you to take part in?”
The actor pondered on my question for a few seconds, and he gave me this reply:
“I don’t think I have a ‘dream role’. I constantly look for something new, be it genre, role or story. So, I guess everything I haven’t tried yet can be my ‘dream role’.”

Working with Bench
Filipino fans were surprised by Bench when the South Korean actor became the brand’s ambassador in 2020. It was also at the height of the CLOY fever making Hyun Bin one of the anticipated Bench ambassador.
Bench’s comfortable and simple clothing is one of the brand’s biggest charms said by the actor. He added, that those charms can result in a stylish style! The actor was also grateful for the opportunity to work with the brand as he was able to communicate with his Filipino fans.

Originally, the actor was set to visit Manila to meet his fans physically but, plans were changed with the impact of Covid-19. Instead, the actor will hold a virtual fun-meeting this July 11.
Even though Hyun Bin is meeting his fans virtually, he is still looking forward to visiting the Philippines and spend some time with his Filipino fans. The actor also encouraged everyone to continue following the safety measures and stay healthy.
